Women United raising funds for City Fields.

The circus came to Cleveland on Tuesday in a small, adorable, energetic package.

Lincoln, a black capped Capuchin monkey, was busy handing out invitations around town and helping introduce the Women United fundraiser “An Evening Under the Big Top.”

Women United is a women’s group affiliated with the United Way of the Ocoee Region. It is a platform  to bring women from within the community together who are passionate about the next generation of women. 

Women United, which is made up of female United Way donors, ensures  girls have the opportunity to reach their full potential by focusing on early school readiness and middle school leadership opportunities. As an active part of the community, Women United works to empower women and enrich Cleveland and Bradley County through volunteerism, philanthropy and advocacy.

According to Matt Ryerson, president and CEO of the United Way of the Ocoee Region, Women United began a few years back as an affiliate group.

“We understood the power of women leadership in this community,” Ryerson said during a special presentation at the United Way office.

As evidence, Ryerson referred to  “An Evening Along the River’s Edge” Women United event in March that raised more than $130,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland, Junior Achievement of the Ocoee Region, and On Point. 

Ryerson said  “An Evening Under the Big Top” can top the 2018 event; the non-profit organizations slated to benefit from the event are The Caring Place and City Fields. A paddle raise will be held for each of those organizations… To read the full article visit The Cleveland Daily Banner HERE.
